Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) department was started in the year 2009 with an initial intake of 60 seats, later increased to 120 seats in 2011 and now decreased to 60 seats in 2023 Academic Year. The department is approved by A I C T E, New Delhi and has been affiliated to SBTET, AP.
The Department has expert post graduate faculty members who are well-versed in teaching and skilled supporting staff. The department is having highly qualified and experienced faculty in all streams of Mechanical Engineering. The faculty has been active in guiding the students in making hardware projects.
The department is very well equipped with computational facilities and resources both in terms of hardware and software. Department has state-of-the-art laboratories and workstations loaded with wide range of software products covering all areas of mechanical engineering. The department trained students on CATIA using DASSAULT System software Lab associated established by APSSDC in the year 2018. Experimental and computational facilities are being continuously upgraded. Students are also encouraged to take part in various co-curricular activities like SBTET Project Expo, seminars and paper presentations. They also took part in and various extra-curricular activities like games and sports conducted by Inter Polytechnic Games and Sports (IPSGM) Meet organized by SBTET at various colleges and grabbed a few prizes in 2022. Students have organized Annual Day Celebrations of the College.
A good number of students of 2023 passed out batch have joined in Kirloskar Company and Mega Construction Company with good salary packages after their diploma. Remaining students of that batch got qualified in ECET and opting to pursue B.Tech. Alumni of the department have settled well in very high positions at National and International level.
The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) program under the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and Training (AP SBTET) equips students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in mechanical engineering. AP SBTET is the governing body responsible for overseeing and standardizing technical education in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Here's a detailed overview of the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) program under AP SBTET:
Duration: The DME program typically spans three years and is divided into six semesters.
Eligibility: To be eligible for the program, students usually need to have completed their 10th standard (SSC).
Curriculum: The DME program covers a diverse range of subjects that form the bedrock of mechanical engineering, including:
Practical Training: A significant emphasis is placed on hands-on training. Students participate in lab sessions and workshops to apply the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom and gain practical experience.
